Asphalt Overlay

Choose Pavecon to Repave Your Parking Lot

Our overlays are quick and effective forms of asphalt paving. An overlay is a paving method that consists of applying a new layer of bituminous paving to an existing surface.

The asphalt overlay generally occurs in 3-4 steps

Pavement Assessment

Your blacktop surface will undergo a comprehensive evaluation before our crews perform a pavement overlay. There are a number of reasons why an overlay wouldn’t be the best method of asphalt paving. If there is severe pothole damage, poor water drainage, or another form of structural damage, the pavement may need to be removed or regraded.

Blacktop Milling

Pavement milling is a method of top layer removal that will help with cracking, raveling, or another forms of deterioration. Typically, the milling machine will remove anywhere between 1-3 inches from the blacktop surface.

Base Repair

Often times, locations of potholes, sinkage, or other forms of more severe damage will require base repair. We want to make sure that damage doesn’t recur after the new pavement layer is completed.

Surface Paving

Finally, after the necessary steps have been performed to prepare the pavement surface, the new paving can be completed. Traditionally, the amount of asphalt applied is between 1.5-2 inches thick. This creates a newly restored blacktop surface that functions as needed.
